This machine (insured with our
Track & Treads turbo policy) was being used in its every day duties pulling logs up a steep bluff, when one of the rear guy rope eyes broke, causing the machine to twist on the remaining one, and resulting in the machine falling over onto its nose, badly damaging the operator's cab and trapping the operator inside for a short length of time.
Because the Track & Treads turbo policy was in place, the automatic benefits of consequential loss were available to the organisation immediately. The Assessor then played a huge role in expediting repairs - contacting the insured within an hour of the notification and discussing the situation and recovery options with him. It was agreed for the Assessor to visit the site first thing the next morning, at which time a lift plan and recovery procedure was put in place for the following day.
The recovery went as planned with the aid of two 50 tonne cranes, one 20 tonne crane and a Bulldozer... and at last report, the machine was completely repaired and back with the insured - a remarkably quick turnaround time considering that Christmas and New Year fell around this period. Well done to all involved.
