It’s been a busy time at TLC Insurance

Firstly, we continue to experience strong and growing enquiry from brokers representing all industries, but particularly the construction, civil works (earthmoving), landscaping and of course, forestry sectors.  Not only is this positive for TLC Insurance as a specialist underwriter of choice, but it bodes well for our specialist broker network, and more broadly, for the country at large as industry recovers and grows after last year’s events.

To ensure we continue to meet our own high standards for new business quoting turnaround times, we have spent the early part of this year investing in our team and growing key staff members into new more senior roles. You can read more about our team by clicking here. To support our people, we remain committed to ongoing software improvements so that we can deliver accurately and at pace. This is a long term project and part of the digital transformation journey that we embarked on over a year ago.

Our new underwriting partnership with Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance is going from strength to strength.  Like us, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance understand the benefits that come from having Heavy Machinery and Commercial Motor Vehicle insurance with the one underwriter, and so together, we are committed to Commercial Motor Vehicle insurance as an accommodating line to our specialist heavy machinery product. We also offer Contractors Liability Insurance under our longstanding relationship with Vero Liability.  If you have a mobile plant client, who is interested in having all of their vehicle and liability insurance under one roof, then TLC Insurance is here for you.

One of the most exciting news items to share with you in this newsletter is the recent promotion of Andrew Reid to the position of General Manager of TLC Insurance.  Andrew’s promotion reflects the vast contribution that he has already made to the business.  In addition (and in the same week), Andrew was named as a “Young Gun” winner in this year’s Insurance NZ Awards.

Judges for that award obviously saw what we see in Andrew, and noted in their announcement:

When you speak to Andrew, it is immediately apparent that he has a passion for the insurance industry that is both genuine and infectious... [His] experience set the scene for Andrew’s return to New Zealand where he was quickly snapped up by TLC Insurance, a specialist underwriter based in Tauranga, with hundreds of heavy machinery clients drawn from the forestry, civil, agriculture and earthmoving sectors based across New Zealand.

It’s a decision that has been mutually beneficial for both parties, with Andrew quickly being recognised as a proactive high achiever. In the same year that he joined TLC Insurance, Andrew was promoted from his original role of Business Development Officer/Underwriter to the position of General Manager – Insurance, and then in March 2021, Andrew was promoted again, this time to the role of General Manager.

As Andrew looks to the future, he is excited about the growth opportunities provided by TLC Insurance and the insurance industry in general, and as such, he is thrilled to be recognised in the 2021 insurance Young Gun awards.

I am sure you will join me and everyone at TLC Insurance in congratulating Andrew on his achievement.  I am of the same view as the judges in that Andrew’s professional leadership will be a key component of TLC Insurance’s continued growth as New Zealand’s leading specialist heavy machinery underwriter.

Finally, we want to thank you again for your continued support of TLC Insurance. We know and understand that you have a duty of care to provide your clients with well-researched insurance options and we are 100% committed to exceeding your expectations from quoting to underwriting to claims.

Please talk to us at any time for heavy machinery insurance across any industry.  We are here for you.
