AN OPERATIONAL UPDATE
Anyone who knows us will attest to the fact that we never rest on our laurels. We are always looking for new operational efficiencies so that we can improve the broker experience, and this year has been no different. One of our key areas of focus this year has been the way that we process new and renewal business, with the finishing touches to our upgrade happening now. We will be in touch in the New Year once we’re 100% satisfied with the proposed changes – but needless to say, we know that you will excited by what’s to come.
We have also been working hard this year on reviewing our rating protocol. This is another large-scale project that is in its final stages of development, and without giving the game away, we know that this project will make us even more competitive for Mobile Plant and CMV in some key heavy machinery industries that are experiencing huge growth as a result of the government’s infrastructure investment programme.
MEET OUR NEW UNDERWRITER – DANIELLE GRAY
Danielle joined us in July and she has already proven herself to be an invaluable part of our team. Danielle comes from a broking background which means she approaches everything through a client-centric lens. Click to read more about Danielle's background and experience.
An important reminder to your clients:
Many of your clients will be shutting down for the Christmas period and we urge them to take vigilance with their heavy machinery during this period. Here are a few handy recommendations to pass on:
- Check your site every 2-3 days to make sure nothing is amiss and will give the impression that the site is being monitored to deter thieves.
- Leave machines with very little diesel to prevent theft of fuel.
- Consider isolating the battery power to the machines to eliminate battery drainage and avoid the battery shorting and causing an electrical fire while unattended.
- Remove and store all machine accessories away from site.
- To prevent damage from vermin, put bait in the cab and if possible the engine. This will ensure they don’t destroy the cables, wiring and upholstery.
- Check and remove any dry debris such as birds’ nests which tend to build up in machinery after an extended period.
- Check the diesel and oil levels before starting the machines.
- Conduct a thorough check on all wiring to ensure there is no damage. Especially wiring looms, battery cables etc.
- Check fire extinguishers are in working order before you start back into action in the New Year
After many years of closing fully over the holiday period, we are doing things differently this year, with Andrew and Karen coming in daily to take care of on-site duties. The rest of our team will be taking a well earned break with the last full day of work being tomorrow (Tuesday 21 December). All will be back with us on Monday 10 January, fully rested and ready for the year ahead!
In closing, we know that all in all it’s been a challenging year for clients, brokers and underwriters – we’ve learned that nothing can be assumed and there’s no such thing as “Business as Usual” any more. So on that note, we really want to say thank you for your ongoing loyalty and support. It means everything to us, and we are exceedingly grateful.
